Michael Jordan’s emergence in the NBA and the release of the Jordan lines signature shoe in 1985, fueled a boom in sneaker collecting. Hip hop also played a big role in establishing street credit to brands like Nike and Adidas with more collaborations between sneaker brands and artist than ever before.
